Toxic Secret

AUGUST 18, 2009
Toxic Secret/oil on panel/15"x20"
I just recently finished up a painting for CFO magazine about American companies hiding "toxic" liabilities on their balance sheets. These companies are under reporting their environmental clean-up liabilities by taking advantage of some very vague accounting rules. They legally hide costs (related to asbestos, heavy metal pollution and contaminated ground water clean-up) to look better on paper. The editor initially asked for a business guy holding a tiny barrel of toxic waist. Luckily I've worked with Robert, the AD, many times and he backed me up with this toxic monster concept.
