I just finished this piece for another Mark Murphy project benefiting Sushi : A Center for the Urban Arts who are raising awareness and trying to cultivate funds to complete their performance space in San Diego. It will be part of a gallery exhibition, on Saturday, June 13th from 7 pm – 12 am : The exhibit features local artists, as well as national artists. There will be an auction and If you are interested in tickets for the event and attending you can contact : indra@baileygardiner.com.
The piece 10"x10" with a lot of relief and I got out my hand sander to acheive the light area which brought out the layers of red clay underneath. It is difficult to show the relief in a jpeg and all the detail in the bark and really should have scanned the piece prior to spraying the acrylic finish. The title is "Waiting in Blue" and I was thinking about how there is never a perfect time for anything in life it seems.
