Putting back the pieces

MAY 26, 2011

This week's Internazionale features an article about the earthquake and tsunami that struck Japan in March, and ongoing efforts to rebuild and recover. There are no rough sketches for this one, as the idea struck me as such a clear and obvious solution that I took my chances and went straight to finish. The Japanese characters stand for "reconstruction" or "recovery."
I take off my beret in respect to those who, by this point may be tired one more reference to the rising sun. And yet, I maintain that clichés are essential and robust tools for communication, and am puzzled by those who complain about their use.
