Donald Kilpatrick
The Home Decorator and Color Guide by Rockwell Kent.
posted:
A couple of months ago I was aimlessly surfing e-bay, did a search for Rockwell Kent, and came up with this great find. This booklet was produced in 1939 by the Sherwin Williams company, and fully illustrated by the great Rockwell Kent. What I enjoy most about this is that Rockwell Kent not only illustrated this gem, but he also wrote the copy, and gives his expert opinion on house painting. I admire the fact that Kent was able to fully express himself as a writer as well as an artist. You can find this booklet for around fifteen to twenty dollars on e-bay if you catch it at the right time. Another Rockwell Kent gem of mine is "How I Make a Woodcut"- A small book I bought a few years back and is one out of a run of six thousand, and is signed. I will post pics of this beauty real soon.
