Yes, I know. You are probably saying: "What a suprise, Donald has posted yet another scooter image!"
Other than the paying jobs I have had these past couple of months, I have only been painting Vespa scooters. The reason for this is that i am completing my Masters of Illustration through Syracuse University's Independent Study Degree Program, and the scooter paintings make up the body of work (my thesis).
These paintings are part of a narrative told only in pictures called, "Il Primo Amore".
Il Primo Amore is a story of loves, losses, adventures, and growth.
The object of this story is a scooter who's first owner is a boy. The scooter changes hands throughout the piece, concluding with a reunion between the scooter and the original owner, who is now an old man.
This illustration is from the part in the story where the original owner sees his "second" love for the first time.
