Our humble abode.
Well, if you don’t already know by now, I am now in the Detroit metro area, and I am teaching illustration at the College for Creative Studies. I have had a great time here so far. I have a great group of students, and I am happy to say that they are working hard, and are creating great work.
It is a bit lonely in that my family won’t be joining me until after this semester is over, but I will have some chances to head back to Cali for a few days here and there in the next couple of months. I will even get the chance to travel to New York in march for one of the Society’s openings. We are renting a beautiful home in a great town 30 minutes north of Detroit, and I now have a studio with great light!! The house is a bit empty at the moment, and it could use some decorating,, but I am enjoying being a slob for the time being. I can make a mess and not have to clean it up!! People here have been so nice, and have made me feel as at home as I can with the circumstance as it is. I have found some great places to eat, the John K. King Bookstore, shopped at “Pure Detroit” in the Fisher Building, and with a kind student’s help, I visited the “Heidelberg Project”.
I will add some photo galleries in the coming days of the places I have been here so far, but attached you will find a sampling of what I have come across in my month of living here.
I also will be adding some of the work on my children’s book that is to be published by Penguin this fall, real soon as well.
