This one is for Rob Dunlavey.

Alvin Lustig is one of my favorite designers. I love everything about his design. Along with this find of a book, I was lucky enough to find a copy of D.H. Lawrence’s poems with a dust jacket that Lustig designed. In the latest issue of Dwell magazine is an article on Lustig. I have yet to read it, but when I do, I will post more on this guy.

This is a book that I came across while living in Salt Lake. Not only does it have an amazing dust jacket, but also has some great content that is relevant today as it was then.

I took my copy of D.H. Lawrence’s POEMS off the shelf today to pack it for shipping, and found a bookmark on a page that has one of my favorite poems of his-

SELF-PITY

I never saw a wild thing
sorry for itself.
A small bird will drop frozen dead from a bough
without ever having felt sorry for itself.
