So...
This portrait of Mike Bloomberg being sworn in as the Mayor of NY for the third time was SUPPOSED to be the cover image of tomorrow's issue of the NY Observer. When the editor assigned it to me last Thursday, the story was going to be about Bloomberg basically being a lame-duck Mayor from the get-go, how those around him would be attempting to undermine his every move. I wanted to make it a strong, provocative, yet subtle image. So I posed him taking the oath with an expression of nervousness, suspicion and trepidation, sent the finish in early yesterday, everyone was pleased. This morning, I hear from the AD, my old friend Nancy Butkus, that the article came in last night and the author had changed the ENTIRE concept, now comparing Bloomberg to AVITAR. Can I do a new illustration?
I declined. Have to get back to my "portraits of Sideshow Freaks" book, deadline fast approaching.nbsp
Fun Fun Fun.
