Art for a Book Review

Here is a recent cover for the Washington Post Book World.  I got really wrapped up in the drawing of this one.  The hair, the smoke, and the trusses on the bridge.  I really enjoyed working on it.  Space was needed for a headline title and that went over the dark area of her coat. 
The story is a complex tale about a woman that left Russia for America in the 1920's.  After being here for years she decided to head back to Russia to see her daughter again.  She traveled back by train through the West, Canada, Alaska and over the Bering Straits.  The book is called 'Away' by Amy Bloom.
