Work for Terra Magazine on troubled youth

I worked on a cover and several interior images for Terra, a research magazine published by Oregon State University.  They were highlighting a study on prisoners, looking at their childhood, teenage years, and what led them to gangs and violence.  It also discussed ways to keep men from returning to prison once they were out.
The cover is above and the interiors below.  I wanted something to bring together the interior images and thought of using the same shape, a red bandana/tie, to show the different stages—boy scout, gang member, and a businessperson.  The art director is Santiago Uceda.
