Here are some extremely boring icons I've been working on over the last few years. Boring is good. Boring works. You don't want to get excitable when trying to navigate your phone's radio. Heaven forbid you glaze over on I95 and plow into another cell phone tower.
We (Josh Klenert, Clear Channel's creative director) started this project years ago and have been collaborating diligently on every imaginable application: iPhone, Droid, Blackberry, you name it. Josh is swell to work with (we all lie and say that about our clients here at Drawger but in this case its true). He gave me the name and some type and we rocked out a decent logo, then spanked out dozens of extremely boring but functioning icons. Years... YEARS of icons and never once did I call him a peniswrinkle and slam down the phone. Thanks Josh aka: <JK>
a sampling of some of the back and forth. check out iheartradio in your apps. and, of course, feel free to Zzzz/ chime in on how bored you were reading this post.
This is what the final mark looks like. The key to this puzzle was emphasizing the visuals in a size that repeated the order: I. Heart. then Radio. If you only knew the name you might easily identify it without ever having seen it.
