I am currently a small part of an exhibit at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, NY titled 'Wish You Were Here' The Buffalo Avant-garde in the 1970's
. The show documents the extraordinary display of innovation and creativity throughout the city and its cultural organizations. I was fortunate to attend Buffalo State College from 1970 to 1972 and was friends with Michael Zwack
who along with other students: Robert Longo, Cindy Sherman, Charles Clough, Diane Bertolo, Nancy Dwyer and others started Hallwalls
a unique communal working space for emerging artists and visiting nationally known artists to lecture.
Please excuse the poor quality of the art, I scanned it from the catalog.
The image is a takeoff of an underground comix cover and the size of one.
Michael was my main supplier of undergrounds at the time so hence the context. I made it back then and gave it to Michael and was quite surprised to have it included in the show.
