These are pretty much the people or art that influenced me the most over the years.

Most of them still resonate in me.

	The time has finally come.

My new book, Révélations Photographiques, written by Louise Bombardier, will be on the shelves next week.

It will be part of a new collection of books called «Autour de l'art», published by Les éditions du passage.

I've already talked about it a while ago in drawger.

You can see more of the book here.

Below are some of the sixteen images I've created to illustrate Louise's short fiction portraits.

At the contrary of these little scenes, I had a lot of fun working on this project.

I've just learned four of them were selected in American Illustration.

The Book Review

Two weeks ago I've worked with Rex Bonomelli at The New York Times to illustrate the cover of the Book Review.

The book, Middle C, by William H. Gass, seems pretty interesting according to the review; the multiple hidden identities taken by the main character, as well as his collection of newspaper clippings of global catastrophes put me on the tracks.

Exactly the type of ambiance I love to illustrate.

It's about time

Today I've received the link to the new issue of Plansponsor magazine, and thought it would be about time to do a little hommage to the one and only SooJin Buzelli.

It has been around eight years now that I did get my first phone call from SooJin; yes, at that time phone was still working.

I don't have so much souvenir from this first collaboration although I do remember the image I've done; I cannot find a scan of it but I do remember SooJin was already pretty free and open minded.

The second project came two months later; it was about « whatever evoke Best Picks». «That's it?». «Yes».

I'm not 100% sure about her exact words, but anybody who has worked with SooJin knows pretty well this is the kind of brief we get.

Since, we've collaborated many times, from quarter pages to opener or even covers.

It amazes me how it has become quiet instantly so great to do work for Plansponsor.

We're not talking about some kind of cultural magazine here, it is a technical business oriented type of content, there's no fancy subjects, not a huge exposure either.

It's only thanks to SooJin's desire and efforts to design a great looking magazine that makes it such a thrill.

Each time, she seems so confident we're the right person to do the project, so open to different approaches that we tend to forget about our own uncertainty and doubts. We have to raise to the level of her enthusiam.

I'm sure a lot of you would put it in better words, but mostly, I wanted to say that to me, this attitude, SooJin's attitude, towards the illustrators, is priceless.

Here are some of the pieces we've done along those eight years.

Leaders and award

Here is a serie of three openers for a special report on Leaders in Premium, a montreal financial magazine.

I've tried as always when asked for a serie to find a link between the images to make it coherent.

It is the second time I work with AD Louise Rouleau, and I have to say it has been a pleasure both time; she's really open minded, giving chances to more «abstract» concepts.

Just back from my show in Paris, I'll try to post pictures later, I've learned that my latest book, MONSIEUR MARCEAU won 2013 Outstanding Nonfiction for Children Award.
Announced by the National Council of Teachers of English, the ceremony will be held in Boston later this year.

New Book

Here are some advanced images from my new book that will be out soon, called «Révélations photographiques», written by Louise Bombardier, with whom I've already worked on a previous book, «Petits Fantômes mélancoliques».

The text is cut in 16 little stories, each of them being about a photo shooting session, à la 19th century, and mostly about the characters being photographed and their trauma.

I've been pretty free to work as I wanted on this project; it seems Louise and I are on a same tracks when it comes to ambiance, and «funny» stories.

The book will be published in Canada by Les éditions du Passage pretty soon, as a small art book.

Here are some images from our first collaboration, back in 2007.

Each text was based on Balthus painting from which Louise was crafting a story.
