I start paintings from time to time based on not much more than a basic thought, or a photo I have taken, or simply a desire to sink into the process of painting. It can be liberating experience after a period of specific assignment work. But sometimes these journeys without direction come to a point where I am not sure where to go next. Certain paintings might stay propped up in the studio for months, until I have an idea for where to go next... I view these as more of 'the process' rather than anything 'finished'... and enjoy the journey while painting...
