Some drawings from recent sketchbooks. When I was a kid my dad used to bring home piles of cardboard shirtbacks from his trash hauling route that I would draw on for hours. When I left for art school my mother threatened to throw them out. I gave them to a female friend of mine for safekeeping. Unfortunately we became romantically involved about a decade later and, as a few of these sorts of involvements go, it didn't end well so I have no idea if those shirt back drawings are still being kept safely today. I suspect not. These sketchbook drawings come from a similar place. I sit and draw, not spending an inordinate amout of time on each, with whatever pops into my head or out of my pen at a given moment going down on the page. I keep the sketchbooks in my studio for safekeeping.
The following drawings were done to music by Gary Lucas, Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry, Vivian Stanshall, The Beatles, Otis Redding, Johnny Thunders & The Heartbreakers and Prince.
