Bloomberg Bike Race
posted:

Jumping onto the bike share bandwagon, this was done for the New York Times back in late December. As the old Howlin' Wolf song goes, "had to take Christmas in my overalls" as the deadline on this had a quick turnaround I was unable to get off Manhattan Island for the holidays. The piece was art directed by the legendary Robert Weigand. It was entitled "What To Expect In New York In 2013." The image depicts the mayor's race before Anthony Weiner hopped in. Bloomberg is seen riding off on a bike, referencing his bike advocacy and his departure from the New York City political scene.
This was done in photoshop. The finished piece is 124 layers.
I was out for a bike ride on Monday, a holiday, and was pleased to see a lot of Citibikes out on the road. I'll be going out today, a work day, and expect to see many more. Summer has officially begun, Veterans honored (hopefully they never stray too far from your minds and hearts year 'round), Memorial day sales behind us, pools open, barbecues sizzling, temperatures in the nineties, school winding down etc etc etc. Get out on those bikes and ride!
Speaking of the Mayor's race, the latest polls have Anthony Weiner closing in on Christine Quinn. As unlikely as it may seem, Steve Brodner may get his wish.
