This was done for my friend Sasha Wizansky at Meatpaper Magazine for an article about cricket harvesting in Cambodia.

The idea of collaging bugs made me a little itchy but it was great fun. I made a number of almost finished pieces and this one was chosen.

Here are the other images that I showed--- I'll end up finishing a few of these when I have the time--

This was selected for the AI30 book.

It was a personal piece that I included in a licensing portfolio to show at Surtex last year (which I do with my rep, Frank Sturges)

So far, no one has ordered the pattern to use as wallpaper, though I still have my fingers crossed. Somewhere, there should be a room full of creepy catheads....

Many thanks to the Jury who voted this in! The book looks great!!

I recently had my work published in Migrate Magazine's '13' issue.

I altered some existing personal work to fit the theme by adding hand lettering and drawn numbers.

This was fun because it was a chance for me to tinker with collage paintings that I had completed and already thought of as finished. By doing this, I was able to be the designer and give a theme (and purpose) to these abstract pieces.

This ran in the New York Times ( Science Times/ Health) today for the article :

"A Child's Nap is More Complicated Than it Looks"

I am always thrilled to get assignments that allow for a wide range of ideas on a basic concept. For this one, I spent awhile working on variations of a few different visual ideas. I kept them pretty literal and simple.

If the piece calls for it, and often when the deadline is tight, I jump right into working on the ideas as if they were the finals. This has been my style in recent years for open-ended assignments where the art director allows me to experiment and play in the idea stage of it.

I'm always really thankful for these times, because with the way I work, it allows for happy accidents and collage ideas that pop during the process that may not have come to me if i was doing line-drawn sketches and writing down notes to myself about how to explain it to them. There is often a hurdle to jump with showing sketches for collage art, since there is the mystery of how it will turn out in the end (in my personal experience, anyway...)

Here are the other ideas that I showed.....

A Big Thank you to Matt, Gina and Martha for telling me about this exhibit :

"Greetings" at Culture Fix Gallery . The opening reception is tonight from 7 to 9.

I decided to use this open themed show as an excuse to play a little bit.

These are all created with colllage on used vintage postcards. The titles include part of the messages written on the backsides.
