There's something about the mythic & mystic nature of surfing that's always appealed to me, but as a Canadian living hundreds of miles from any ocean my passion was limited to the rich visual & musical side of the sport. In fact, my first concert was The Beach Boys - in 1974, long past their days as a genuine surf group. Jaimey from Pace Communications sent me this promo booklet celebrating the 15th anniversary of Hemispheres, the United Airlines magazine. The booklet briefly delves into the history of United's airline magazines and then presents every cover, 180 in all, each illustrated by artists from every corner of the world. Below is a very small sampling. My apologies for the many great ones I left out. Enjoy.

This is an assignment for FAO Schwarz. The directive was to create a set of simple, spot color graphics for alphabet blocks. Two variations were to be manufactured: an abacus and a wagon. The dough was less than the vast sums I usually command so I negotiated to receive plenty of sets of each toy (xmas & birthday shopping will be a little bit easier from now on) as well as prominent credit/recognition on the packaging.

The image is part of a series of abstract images I'm working on. I've also included another musical number. This time a country rock thing with some Duane Eddy style guitar licks up front and central. That combination always make me think of wide vistas, open roads, etc.

A few weeks ago I participated in a group show here in Toronto called '1st Sign of Spring'. Each artist's work was printed on laminated plywood using a technique reserved for road signs and such. I've been messing around with Apple Garageband. Here's a little rockabilly groove. Yeah, it's really rough, listen while I lose it at :45. LOL. The guitars & bass were recorded direct and the GB amp sim leave a lot to be desired. The drums are obviously a built in loop... RockabillyRavedown
