Joe Ely, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, and Lloyd Maynes at the Broken Spoke
So, last night Janice and I were invited to party to celebrate the 33 1/3 year anniversary of
John Kunz (owner of
Waterloo Records here in town) and his gal
Kathy Marcus (some of you folks will remember her from the old
Texas Monthly art staff). Anyway, John & Kathy threw a big shindig at the
Broken Spoke (where
Tim O'Brien regularly dances when he's in town), and John being John,
Joe Ely,
Jimmie Dale Gilmore, and
Lloyd Maynes were part of the lineup (see above). As if that weren't enough, the party took on a whole new dimension when John & Kathy stepped up to the mike and made an announcement: they were getting married on the spot, with all us in attendance. Best wedding I've ever been to, and definitely the best wedding band.
