If you're in the New York area, the Arena Stage exhibition will have its official opening at 5:30 on Thursday night at the Society of Illustrators (128 E. 63rd Street). The exhibit showcases a selection of 33 original works created for the renowned theater over the last 10 years by artists Mike Benny, Olaf Hajek, Jody Hewgill, Gary Kelley, Wilson McLean, Balvis Rubess, Mark Ulriksen, and others. I'll even have one in there myself.

Under the leadership of artistic director Molly Smith, Arena has commissioned some of the most award-winning work of the last decade. Staff art directors Maggie Boland and Ann Marie Czaban, along with Scott Mires and the folks at Mires+Ball design in San Diego, continue to commission great work, and are currently adding to the roster with Sterling Hundley and Raul Colon. In addition to mainstage shows, Arena commissions original work to promote some of its special events, including two Wine Auctions, the downstairs new play reading series, and the annual Arena Stage Benefit.
