Things Lately

This is always a busy time of year, but this year Gina and I have been extra busy tying up our portfolios for Surtex. I'll post more on that later, but for now I thought I'd show the process on one of the patterns we made for the occasion. Here is Juniper being fooled by my powers of illusion.
Here it is after Gina's had her way with it:
And here is is once I added some bows and made it a seamless repeat.
With all the rush, I had to miss out on a few things. Last week was the opening for the On Language show at the New York Times and I wasn't able to make the event. I'm a fan of this column and was very happy to paint an illustration for them a few years ago. Thank you to Nicholas Blechman for organizing the show, and I'm sorry I couldn't see it all together.
This was the lettering i did for Leo Jung back in '07.
Look at this list of contributors. A great bunch. I wonder if a more public space would be interested in picking the show up?

Tomorrow is the opening for the Heads for Haiti benefit exhibition organized and hosted by the good people at Spur Design. I imagine this would be a great occasion to head down to Spur's great gallery space and studio in Baltimore. That is, if I didn't have a lovingly demanding 16 month old. If you're within driving distance, and baby free, I think you should go and tell me about it.
