morning walks and long jobs
posted:
I love shopping for food. Depending on the day I'll head over to the Italian Market for my produce, to DiBruno Brothers for cheese, Fiorello's for sausage, Isgro's for pastries and to Sarcone's for a baguette. Then to round out the necessities, I walk another block over to Whole Foods. Our Whole Foods is a little different than most in that it's in a neighborhood and most people walk to it. These stops have become a part of our daily routine. They relax Gina and me and let us get out of the studio, see some people, enjoy the fruits of our foraging, and then get back to work.

I'm giving this back story because the photo above may look like a soup cup to you, but around our house it's a little more. Two years ago Duffy & Partners gave Gina a call with a job for Whole Foods. The idea was to update their look, and it would begin on a few items before spreading to the other surfaces around the store. So many things pass in and out of our studio in a week or a month, the prospect of an ongoing project was appealing. Gina worked and worked on a huge amount of drawings with more than a few art directors. Time passed, the work continued, but we didn't see any signs of it on our trips out for ice cream or coffee beans. Until this morning. After so much drawing, and so long a wait, it is really great to see the first part of the job come to life. Hopefully we'll soon be able to share more parts as they come out. Until then, I hope you enjoy Gina's humble (but beautiful to me) soup cup.
