Michael Sloan

I grew up in Boston, MA. After graduating from The Rhode Island School of Design, I worked as a printmaker in Paris and Venice before moving to New York City in 1990.  My first illustration assignment was published on the Op-Ed page of The New York Times. Since then my drawings have been published over 100 times in The New York Times Op-Ed Letters column as well as by many magazines and newspapers, corporate and institutional clients, and book publishers.

I recently spent a year with my family living and working in Hong Kong. My paintings of Hong Kong street markets have been exhibited in solo and group shows in the U.S. and Hong Kong.

My work has been awarded three silver medals from The Society of Illustrators.  I also play bass guitar in the all-illustrator jazz band The Half-Tones, performing frequently at The Society of Illustrators in NYC.
