I enjoy portraits of controversial figures. Love'em or hate'em they're hard to resist. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia is one of those figures to me. I not a fan of his opinions but I thought he was worth an atttempt at a portrait. He's combative yet eloquent in interviews. But the thing that cracks me up the most is his hand gesturing. A New York vernacular.
I was inspired by Andy Warhol's use of color shapes superimposed and transparent on the portraits.
