The Frozen Rabbi
MARCH 1, 2010
Tablet is a daily online magazine of Jewish news, ideas, and culture, Today is the first installment of a serialized novel by Steve Stern, titled ‘The Frozen Rabbi.’ The story tells how a ninteenth-century rabbi from a small Polish town is encased in a block of ice, and turns up in the basement freezer of a twenty-first-century Memphis home. The art director, Len Small, asked me if I’d do some drawings to accompany the text. The book is a great read, and they’ll be running a drawing a day for about two months. I really like how the idea of a serialized novel is being revived online.
