Since the crash of 2008 I have found it more difficult to find US publishers willing to do the kind of full color hard cover books I want to do like this, so I've found myself migrating to other countries.
Drawn To New York came out last fall in a Spanish edition and will be published in France next fall. The only English edition is as an e-book. An avowed luddite, I never expected to find myself in the digital world, but when I was approached by the new e-book publisher Bemis Balkind, I decided I'd rather have my book available than not. With publishers taking fewer and fewer chances, this is the path I find myself taking. I have to admit, seeing this book on a (borrowed) ipad and having the art looking so luminous and digitally flipping the pages like a book opened a door.I will leave print, kicking and screaming, but intend to further explore the possibilitites presented by e-books. Particularly the area where books that are long out of print may find a new life and audience in this form.
If, unlike me, you are the owner of an ipad

If you speak Spanish (most of the book is wordless so you can still get most of it), you can find a real live hardcover of the book here:
