My good friend Steve Mayse (see previous post) at KCAI asked me to spread the word on a teaching opportunity coming up soon in Kansas City. It is a new program started in the fall of 2010, they'll have approx 120 students in the program and the empasis is on the "story." I know from firsthand experience that it is a really strong program with great students. The details are in the links below:
http://www.kcai.edu/ http://www.kcai.edu/fulltimefacultyillustrationchair + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + Position: Illustration faculty and department chair (full time) Status: Tenure track Rank: Associate professor Start Date: Aug. 15, 2012 Description: The appointee will be contracted to hold a full-time faculty post and while doing so will serve at the pleasure of the president as chair of the department and receive stipend compensation and release time from normal work load for chair administrative duties. Teaching responsibilities will include junior level major studio. Chair responsibilities will include providing educational leadership for the department and the college, and administrative duties to include but not limited to budget planning and management, faculty staffing and equipment, facility and faculty needs. Requirements for the position: Professional experience in freelance and/or institutional employment Knowledge of software programs including Adobe Creative Suite. Education and experience requirements: M.F.A. degree in illustration or a related field, or equivalent professional experience Teaching and professional practice in illustration Professional achievements in the field of illustration Administrative experience About KCAI: Kansas City Art Institute is a four-year, independent and accredited college of art and design founded in 1885, and located in the cultural heart of metropolitan Kansas City, Missouri.
