Polls and perceived wisdom notwithstanding, Bush keeps winning and Friday’s warrantless surveillance act revealed how Bush does it. He’s actually smart. He knows the truth. The Democrats, including purported tough-guy Jim Webb can be easily and instantly “masochized”. Say the magic words “Soft On Terror” and they happily fold and beg for mercy. Imagine giving totally unchecked e-mail surveillance power, after all, to Alberto Gonzales. ALBERTO GONZALES! Is there anything left to say? I guess nothing except that satire is dead. And it has welts.
