Biography
James Childress created the comic strip Conchy, which ran between the years 1970 through 1977. He was the staff illustrator for The Charlotte News, which was the afternoon paper, once published by The Charlotte Observer. Conchy was syndicated by Field Enterprises.

James Childress took his own life in 1977.

All of his strips and illlustrations were done on Strathmore cold press board and inked with a Gillott 170 nib.
