Xerox's Variable Printing Seminar

MARCH 21, 2006
The promo I mailed Zimm and a few other Drawgers was printed by my friends at Xerox using variable printing. It's the future of direct mail marketing and in my opinion, perfect for illustrators. It's a way to personalize each single printed piece within you direct mail campaign. There's a cool seminar coming up at Xerox- May 3 & 4. If you'd like more info e-mail me at jmoores1@rochester.rr.com or call 585 229-4603 and I'll fill you in more on the best promo technology going right now. The response has been impressive- since mailing 1000 mailers 10 days ago I've reeled in a book job, a corp. identity job, mag spot, CD cover, and a couple others plus 30+ personal e-mails or phone calls responding to the promo. Compared to the last couple postcard mailers I've done which had little return, VARIABLE PRINTING is the way to GO!! Thank you XEROX-- the iGen printer ROCKS!!
Hip Drip Critters- Coffee mugs
This is the inside portion of the promo when opened with 2 folds. Notice at bottom - cartoon ballon contains ADs name and personal message.
Here's a close up of the variable printing- I created a font of my hand writing. For $9.00 go to www.fontifier.com and presto! You have your own handwritten font. By leaving the cartoon ballon blank, through variable printing, the message was printed with each separate name on each promo. Is that cool or what!!
The mailer was a double fold that measured 11" x 20.5" so when folded it was 11" x 7". It cost $.63 to mail. This image(actually print on the back side) appeared when you opened the up the first cover side. This is too confusing to explain-- send me your address and I'll mail you one.
This image appeared on the back of all the mailers going to females. For all the males the same image was used except I had a man sitting in the beach chair with coffee cup. By creating a column in the mailing list database, I simply labeled "1" for males and "2" for females and variable printing on Xerox's iGen printer switched the images-- WAY too cool if you ask me!!
This is a portion of the front side of the mailer where the address appeared. Cartoon ballon is blank, but through variable printing, a personalized message including the ADs name in my handwritten font is printed separately on each mailer. Again the girl at desk is switched to a guy if it's going to a guy. The only problem in this process is if you come across a name like Pat or Terry, etc.-- so sorry girls if you got a "guy" and visa versa!! Still, this whole process ROCKS!! :-)
