Sketchbook - Micro-Perfore Nudes
This gallery is dedicated to life drawing. Every so often, I go to life drawing classes to 'stay in shape' and be around like-minded people. I either go to the Society of Illustrators or a place out here on Long Island that a lot of illustrators go to along with the general population. It's all good fun and great to make a real big mess once in a while.
History - Joe Bowler
This gallery exhibits the works and the methods of Joe Bowler's painting technique. On March 30th, 2007 I was lucky enough to visit Joe Bowler's home and studio with my Master's class for the day and discuss with him the history of his work as an illustrator through to his life as a portrait painter. Bowler was part of Cooper Studios in New York City starting in the mid 50's and quickly rose in popularity as an illustrator at the tail-end of the 'golden age' of illustration. He was inducted into the Society of Illustrators Hall of Fame in 1992. www.joebowler.com It was a pleasure to meet with him and amazing to watch him paint. It is not often one would get to see a master painter work but able to meet someone during that wonderful time in illustration history. The portrait he was working on in these photos were done in 1 hour. All work copyright Joe Bowler.© 2023 Scott Bakal
