NOVEMBER 22, 2017
Wow this is Big!
This in the third in the series of “Trains and Tracks” sculptures. “The 1936 Atlantic Streamliner” She is three-foot wide and two feet high Composed primary of metals, steel, brass, and aluminum with just a tickle of some fine hard woods.
Daydreaming Rocketships On the 5:40 Am Express Bus to NYC I suppose I am day dreaming once again as the nuns used to scream in my ear Mr. Spollen again!!! But this is exactly where the ideas come from as people often ask me how do you do it? The secret is to simply disconnect from this crazy world and let the mind’s eye do its thing. The more you do it the more the mind enjoys this activity and creates on an even higher level. My friends and neighbors have been bringing me wonderful boxes of high quality metals and very excellent recyclable materials. For this I am very grateful because the quality of my sculptures is going up as a result. And as I constantly remind my students making and creating art is a gift it’s also a very joyful activity. Le Grand Rocetship De Pirie 1904 {An all-metal piece}
The doors of international trade and commerce have opened once again and the Steam Powered Art Factory has just sold eight pieces of art to China! My wife invited two very nice Chinese couples to our home and studio. The husbands are both high ranking architects in China and loved looking at the homes and buildings on my Staten Island guided auto tour. On arrival to our studio, they kind of went nuts with the amount of art they were confronted with. Well to make a long story short they both asked if they could buy some of our art and if we could deliver them to NYC eight pieces! I was completely shocked to find out that some art will appear in NYC and some will go to China to be displayed in a new custom high-rise apartment they just finished building simply amazing. What I have realized from this experience that the language of art is universal it knows no boundaries or countries. (for example, ““The French Ray Gun 1902 and, and the “King George flier 1798’ seem to be likes by many.}
Well it’s off to China Two French Balloon sculptures from my recent “Fantastical Balloon Series “were recently purchased and are now setting off for China where they will have a new home in a just built brand new Chinese luxury apartment building. I hope I got the weight to lift ratio right this is a verylong flight and they are coal burners. They are both proudly flying their red flag’s signaling that our international journey has now officially begun.
All Hail the King, “The Sun King Louie” as he goes flying Several art historians all exerts single handly agree that this art piece is from about 1704 France. And it is believed that then king of France “Louie The Sun King” himself owned this peculiar and very intricate sculpture. He was a very passionate collector of the arts, and was completely amazed by anything to do with flight, balloons, and or flying machines. While others simply say oh my god this is just another “ Chris Spollen” from his on going sculpture recent series “Le Balloons De Fantastical”,
